Why we keep payment separate from the platform (and what that means for you)

The financial arrangement of a collaboration — how much gets paid and how — always happens outside CocoMuny, directly between the business and the creator. The platform doesn't process that payment or take any cut of it.

Why we do it this way

Getting in the middle of the money between the two parties would massively complicate the product, and it would also change the relationship: it would stop being a direct arrangement between neighbours in the same community and become a transaction mediated by a platform with its own fees.

What the platform does do

Even though payment is external, CocoMuny does structure everything else: discovery, the proposal, acceptance, recording that the work was completed and that payment was confirmed, and the final review. The whole journey stays organised, even though the money moves outside it.

A notice you'll see throughout the product

That's why you'll see a notice reminding you that payment happens outside the platform on every proposal and every collaboration — it's not small print hidden away, it's information we'd rather keep always visible, so nobody assumes something that isn't true.

What this means in practice

It means trust between the two sides matters more than ever — which is exactly why the mutual review and reputation system carries so much weight in how profiles are ranked within the platform.
