Being a local creator in summer, when your community is away
When your thing is the people in your area, summer shows more than on any other kind of profile. Your community scatters for a few weeks, you post the same as always and half as many people answer.
It is uncomfortable, but it does not mean anything bad about what you do. It only means that in August your people are somewhere else.
Do not measure August against March
Comparing these weeks against a normal month is the fastest way to get discouraged over nothing. If you want to compare, compare against last summer.
It is a good time for what does not expire
Everything you have been meaning to do for months and never fits into the daily routine: introducing yourself properly, explaining why you recommend what you recommend, pulling together the best of what you already posted. Content that still works in October.
And for the places that are better in summer
Plenty of neighbourhood businesses are quieter in August, and they appreciate someone saying so. It is also when they most need someone to walk in, so it tends to be an easy moment to propose something.
Get September ready now
The return hits all at once, with everyone competing for the same attention. Whatever you close in August goes out in September without the rush. That is the upside of these strange weeks.
