How to set a fair price for a collaboration

Putting a number on your own work is one of the hardest moments when starting out, for the person recommending and for the business paying alike. There's no official rate — every collaboration is agreed freely between the two parties, outside the platform — but there are a few reference points that help you avoid starting from zero.

Think in terms of time, not just followers

The price of a collaboration shouldn't depend solely on how many people follow you, but also on how much real time it will take: visiting the business, taking the photos or video, writing the copy, posting it, maybe following up afterwards.

Start with a range, not a fixed figure

For a first collaboration, proposing an indicative range usually works better than a closed figure — it leaves room to negotiate without either side feeling like they've lost control of the conversation.

Adjust over time

Your first price doesn't have to be your final one. As you complete collaborations and build up reviews, it's reasonable to adjust what you charge — just like any business adjusts its prices as its reputation grows.

For businesses: always pay what was agreed

The payment happens outside the platform, but that doesn't make it any less serious. A business that doesn't honour what was agreed doesn't just lose that person — it also loses its reputation within its own community, which is exactly what it was trying to gain in the first place.
